T-Mobile was the first and only US carrier to develop a strategy in 2018 to obtain 100 percent of its entire power demand from renewable sources by the end of 2021. The business claimed today that it is the first in wireless to do so. The firm achieved its RE100 objective by combining renewable energy investments that complement the company’s efforts to mobilize for a flourishing world, environmentalleader.com writes.
T-Mobile created a renewable energy plan that includes eight virtual power agreements, 19 retail partnerships, one Green Direct program, and unbundled Renewable Energy Certificates that assist projects around the nation to help attain the 100 percent target. As a consequence, the corporation has invested in enough wind and solar power to account for every unit of energy utilized on an annual basis. T-Mobile has committed for about 3.4 million MWh of renewable energy per year from the nine main wind and solar farm projects (including the virtual power agreements and Green Direct program).
Aside from agreements that directly contribute to T-energy Mobile’s matching efforts, the firm also sponsors 37 community solar projects in Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, and Oregon, which will green local energy networks with more than 2.1 million MWh over a 25-year period.
T-Mobile’s commitment to renewable energy is accompanied by an enterprise-level focus on energy conservation, which includes, among other things, installing smart thermostats and ENERGY STAR certified lighting systems in major retailers, updating mechanical and electrical systems in data centers, ensuring optimal air management to keep equipment cool in locations such as cell sites, and installing energy-efficient radio equipment on cell towers.
Moving ahead, the firm intends to expand its portfolio of renewable energy projects to meet future power use, investigate onsite solar technology, and invest in organizations that provide clean energy to additional communities throughout the United States. Furthermore, the corporation intends to announce further pledges targeted at further decarbonizing its operations later this year.
